The Township Saga Continues! Code Enforcer! 3 years but yeah who's counting, It was a long time ago! 6-18-16 a year ago!

For those of you who don't know- we believe in keeping all things out in the open. Secrets are for people who are doing something wrong. We use this blog to keep a chronicle of each event as it happens for the sake of facts.

Three years now... but yeah who's counting? According to the township, it was a long time ago! It was a long time ago! Our last blog on the subject was 6-18-16, a year ago! They don't know about the county, every so often, giving us little red postcards because of neighbors' complaints!
Even counties depend on tax revenues!

This time an administration employee made the "complaint"... meaning, they drove by looking for things...
Brian, an employee, made the complaint

"Jeff Wright’s another Township adminstrator has a two-year contract that will pay $120,000 a year."
You can read all about Mr. Wright being employed by Miami Township. His hiring is based on economic growth for Miami Township.

“Miami Township is inviting because their excellent staff is on par with the excellent staff we have here at Milford and the township is positioned for some important economic developments that will benefit "it" for years to come.

All you can do is laugh, and feel sorry for government employees in these types of positions. No matter what, these positions always include violation of ethics and self-interests. Often using positions of authority to harass honest ctizens to get a raise and increase property values which would increase tax revenue for themselves and "the government."

What was the "code inspection" this time? I can not recount all the times with have been harasssed, but it's over twenty times with over 50 different made up violations, or just plain nic-picking!
["Do we have the properly regulated latches on our gates for a swimming pool?"]
We have multiple gates for rouhly 450 feet of fencing and they are always closed. To keep the animals in of course! Not good enough! This stuff has "codes". The gates have to be self-latching with springs, a specific latch and be at least 48", mounted on the inside, or 54" mounted on the outside.

Our property taxes pay governement employee salaries but often, unfortunetely, the goal is not to keep the citizin's rights in place, but to do what is good business for the townships economic growth. Resisdents that have a very meager income because they live "independent" is not good for township revenue. Businesses bring in money for the Township. Today, government goals are no longer to ensure peace, justice, safety, low crime, or see that our God given rights are proptected. Even though those are the foundation, the only reason for the existence of, any government being formed! Governments are formed in order to protect our individual self-interest, property, freedom, privacy, etc.

Governments MUST BE "non-profit" entities; once governments and their employees seek profit for themselves (or even for their city, village, township, county etc...) the line of corruption has been crossed! Now the government is working for the self-preservation of itself, departments, and employees livelihood! They are no longer working for the people.

Brand New Fire Station!
2017!
No, their goal is to "increase tax revenue" for the municipality!
Our house was built in 1949 so it isn't modern and it isn't trendy; add to that, we are urban farmers! We have farm "stuff" around- it's cool if you like that kind of "rustic country road look", but to most yuppies it's just "Junky".

God's Little Acre puts a wrench in their hard working efforts to have perfect looking roads, Houses, perfect yards, perfect neighborhoods in order to bring in wealthier people and new businesses while increasing the prices of the real-estate market in general in the area. Anything to increase tax revenues!

Brand New Homes in
Miami Township
 bring in more tax revenue!
The more an employee in an administration increases tax revenues, the bigger the bonuses they receive and the bigger their salaries are going to be. It profits employees to get "rid" of "unwanted" non-revenue generating enterprises & citizens like ourselves.  Plus, we encourage others to live off their land also.

Yeah, that's why people came to America. To own a piece of "Land", raise a family, work that land, watch it grow into a full fledge profitable farm, feeding themselves, their children and adding to the community. It's called wholesome living.

This laid back country style living gets in the way of fast-pace "make and regenerate revenue" citizens and governments. To them it's all about the "Money" and how things "Look"- with everything perfectly edged, weed free, and of course no unsightly backwards wanna be "Hillbillies". Their goal is to increase "Property values" to generate revenue. The American way is to pass on one's land, "the farm", to one's children- with them passing it on to their children for generations!
Fresh Food from your garden is the most Healthy Food you can eat!!
Don't let another person deny you the best life has to offer!
Grow Your Own! This is God's provision for you,
your Family, and your neighbors!

ooooops! What is this? There just so happens to be a Law to propect urban Farmers in Ohio:

Ohio agricultural zoning laws

Peggy Kirk Hall, Asst.  Professor, OSU Extension Agricultural & Resource Law Program
Spring brings an increase in agricultural land use activity and with it comes a surge of inquiries about Ohio's agricultural zoning laws.  Here at OSU, we repeatedly hear a common question from agricultural landowners and local zoning officials:  can zoning regulate this agricultural situation?  That's a question without a short and simple answer.   A review of Ohio Revised Code sections 303 and 519, which contain the "agricultural exemption" from county and township zoning authority, is the first step toward understanding whether a county or township can regulate an agricultural land use (note that different laws apply for cities and villages).   Here's a summary of Ohio's agricultural zoning laws:
Agriculture is exempt from rural zoning authority in many, but not all, situations.   While Ohio law grants counties and townships the authority to utilize zoning, the law limits how much authority these local governments have over agricultural land uses.  Generally, a county or township may not prohibit the use of any land for agricultural purposes in any unincorporated area, with a few exceptions that are noted below.  This exemption applies in any zoning district, whether residential, industrial, commercial, agricultural or otherwise.
An exempt activity must be in the definition "agriculture."   Ohio agricultural zoning laws apply to "agriculture," which the law defines to  include:  farming; ranching; algaculture; aquaculture; apiculture; horticulture; viticulture; animal husbandry, including, but not limited to, the care and raising of livestock, equine, and fur-bearing animals; poultry husbandry and the production of poultry and poultry products; dairy production; the production of field crops, tobacco, fruits, vegetables, nursery stock, ornamental shrubs, ornamental trees, flowers, sod, or mushrooms; timber and pasturage.  "Agriculture" alsoincludes activities involving the processing, drying, storage, and marketing of agricultural products ifthose activities are conducted in conjunction with but secondary to actual production of those products.

A Little "Steve Urkell" with a Lit'l God's Acre Drama Continued

Why when you deal with the government does it have to be so dramatic? Or Traumatic?
A simple building permit which costs $10.00 turns into government saying "oh no! Not for you!" Your going to pay $ 130.00.
They want to come on our property and insists it's necessary to approve the building permit, when it isn't. We know they want to trespass, spy on us, to find something wrong to charge us with a crime, in order to shut us down or make us move. In the end they want more money, Our little operation brings down property prices which means less revenue for the township. They can't tax as much with lower property values. They went to college to increase government  revenue! Not protect the people or their Constitutional rights.

Yeap. Last year Clermont County came out with a list of things we should do. Ok, we planned on it anyway.

But we budget and don't do everything at one time so we don't have to take out a loan. When we have the money we'll do it. We told them we only had one problem: "We refuse to have anything to do with Miami Twp, in Milford, Mulberry Ohio ever again!" They are corrupt.

http://www.miamitwp.org/Add caption
It's not just big government that's corrupt it's every where. Where ever men can tax there is going to people who put their people in offices or department heads. Townships are no different. Follow the money, you'll find corruption.

Here we are again. We decided to ask a friend who is a contractor draw up the plans for a deck on the back of the house. Because it will be attached to the house you need a building permit. We have a professionally drawn draft. Perfect!

But they know our names  for anyone new to the situation. For a couple of years we've gone 50 rounds with the twp. over having farming rights, that over turn twp rights in Ohio. .

We can do things without twp approval, and they have harassed, charged us, spied on us almost to the point of exhaustion. Trying to shake us up, wear us down, and get us to give in...to willingly give up our rights. Ohio laws are very set in stone when it comes to farming. In Ohio if you have over 5 acres or are not in a platted subdivision and live in a township  you are free to farm on your land!

The only way for them to get us to stop is for us to willingly give up.  When that didn't work, our neighbors went to the county to get them to start charging us, disturbing our peace, violating our privacy, harassing us, etc.

Just Say No to GMO's! Shop Local and Grow Your Own!!

A beautiful small Farm
I am passionate about getting the right information out about GMOs and sustainable farming. There is a lot of misinformation out there because the big ag (Agricultural), companies spend billions to convince consumers they are safe. It's a very contentious issue. I'm a small scale farmer and have many small scale farming friends. There are several big reasons for us to decry GMOs.

Just a few:

1. Monsanto doesn't want to feed the world, they want to own and control the world's food supply.

They are there for profit...create a need, and

fill it. This means wiping out all competition, controlling everything from seed to fertilizer. They went into India promising big yields and then the yields weren't there and they jacked up the price of the seed. They make it illegal to save seed. This is the essence of farming from the beginning of time. They create dependent farmers instead of self sufficient ones. Every 30 minutes an Indian farmer commits suicide as a result of Monsanto's GMO crops. In the last decade, more than 250,000 Indian farmers have killed themselves because of Monsanto's costly seeds and pesticides.

   2. Do you know what "Roundup Ready" means? Many people are now becoming "gluten intolerant,"

not because of gluten but because of the glysophate.

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/04/15/glyphosate-health-effects.aspx
Glyphosate May Be a Key Factor in the Development of Chronic Disease

AutismGastrointestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, chronic diarrhea, colitis, and Crohn's diseaseObesity
AllergiesCardiovascular diseaseDepression
CancerInfertilityAlzheimer's disease
Parkinson's diseaseMultiple sclerosisALS and more

They have manufactured a seed that won't die when doused with a chemical that kills everything... we can't get away from it... Millions of pounds are dumped every year and

                                                         it kills your gut bacteria.

Many weeds are now resistant to roundup and more and more chemicals are needed.

3. BT corn might not need as many pesticides (still sprayed with roundup) but that is because the pesticide is actually IN the corn. BT is considered an organic pesticide. It's basically a bacteria that gets into the guts of worms and causes them to explode. It washes off in the rain...but, when spliced into the dna it's there and

you consume a very large dose of this gut exploding bacteria.

Those are just the main three. I don't want them. Sustainable farmers don't use them. People who want to build up their soil won't go near them.

         Countries are banning them

Politicians are in the big ag companies

pockets... both Republican and

Democrat.

It's is patently false that GMOs bring in more yields

...unless you have raped your soil to the point that you need incredible amounts of fertilizer.
I have a great friend who I get my hay from. He said he personally stays away from gmos because of the chemicals needed to grow them. One day a  vat of chemicals spilled and

he stepped in it and his boot melted,
he said, "I will never grow GMOs..."

I have Amish friends who gets greater yields with non gmos but you can't get those yields if you run a monoculture crop of 1,000's of acres of just one crop...corn or soybeans

To say GMOs feed the world is false.

Most corn is grown for fuel or for animal feed. Most animals (pigs, cows, chickens) can be grown successfully and healthier on pasture.
The world should not be eating corn as a main substance anyway....

I could go on, but my point is that the GMO

culture has transformed farming in

America, polluting waterways, and

depleted the soils to the point that

most soils are dead and are living on

mined life support.

Healthy soil is built through compost and manure and so are healthy plants.

If your soil isn't healthy, bringing up nutrients naturally from the ground, we will be sick. And it's true.

We are sicker than we've ever been, need more supplements like vitamins and minerals, and eat 2x as much just to TRY to get the vitamins and nutrients of just 60 years ago.

And small farmers can't afford

to lobby Congress. We are too

busy actually working to pay full time smoozers....

I leave you with an example:

A Kushi Institute analysis of nutrient data from 1975 to 1997 found that average calcium levels in 12 fresh vegetables dropped 27 percent; iron levels 37 percent; vitamin A levels 21 percent, and vitamin C levels 30 percent. A similar study of British nutrient data from 1930 to 1980, published in the British Food Journal, found that in 20 vegetables the average calcium content had declined 19 percent; iron 22 percent; and potassium 14 percent. Yet another study concluded that one would have to eat eight oranges today to derive the same amount of Vitamin A as our grandparents would have gotten from one.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/soil-depletion-and-nutrition-loss/

Domestic livestock overdose on cereal-based feed and have historically been fed everything from animal droppings to other animals

2001 review study, published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, showing that nutrient levels, including vitamin C, are lower in crops grown with chemical fertilizers. Organic spinach, lettuce, cabbage and potatoes showed relatively high levels.

'Studies show that organic food has 15 per cent more dry matter than non-organic food,' she says, 'so for each kilo of organic fruit or veg you are getting 15 per cent more nutrition. Some of the high yield in conventional farmed crops is just water. By using a lot of NPK [nitrogen phosphorous potassium] fertilizers, the plant is forced to grow faster - and our measure of growth is just the weight at the end.

There is no focus on what growth really means in plants and animals.

With livestock, too, you are giving them unnaturally high-energy diets to force them to grow a lot faster.

So we literally HAVE to eat more in order to have the proper nutrients we need...

http://www.worldwatch.org/node/5339
http://www.rodalesorganiclife.com/food/how-much-roundup-are-you-eating

America is awash in gmos and their health is suffering greatly as a result..." This is a quote I heard recently from someone in England. The GMO issue is highly contentious, mostly because farming has changed so drastically in the last half century and most modern farms are consolidations of many small farms. The mantra is "bigger, better, faster..." One of my favorite lines from Jurrasic Park goes something like "We got so caught up things we could do, we didn't stop to ask should we do it..." This is the case with gmos... Should we splice the dna of one organism into another, and more importantly, should we ingest them? How will the growing of them affect small farmers? How will it affect the environment? GMOs have literally reshaped the world, but not for the better. Good news, people are waking up!! Things are changing!!
